Enugu Govt To Sanction Marketers Who Increase Approved Price Of Petroleum Products
he government of Enugu State says it will punish any petroleum marketer who increases the normal price of the products.
In a statement by the Commissioner for special duties Ajogwu Sunday Emeka on Tuesday, the Enugu state government it was dismayed by the inconsiderate and unnecessary hike in the price of petroleum products in the state by petroleum marketers. The government said that the hike, which was a fallout of the proposed strike action by the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners, has persisted even after the strike action never took place.
Describing the situation as most unpatriotic and unacceptable to the government and people of Enugu State, the government has directed all petroleum marketers to revert to the the pricesthat existed before the sudden hike. It warned that grave consequences await anyone who flouts the directive.
According to the Commissioner, the Enugu state government is in contact with the leaders of the Independent petroleum marketers to ensure that Ndi Enugu are not shortchanged by individuals who are merely profiteering from a strike that never took place”
