ENUGU STATE GOVT AWARDS CONTRACT TO REVAMP HOTEL PRESIDENTIAL, ENUGU
The Enugu State Government has awarded contract for the revamping of the Hotel Presidential, Enugu to a functional and revenue yielding enterprise.
This was disclosed by the State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Aka Eze Aka, and his Culture and Tourism counterpart, Ugochi Madueke when they briefed Government House correspondents after the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Peter Mbah at the weekend.

Eze said the move is in line with the state government’s commitment to convert all dormant assets in the state to productive outfits.

The Commissioner for Culture and Tourism Ugochi Madueke stated that revamping the Presidential Hotel would not only put Enugu State in the world map as the premier destination for investment, tourism and hospitality, but also create jobs for the teeming youths in the state.
The two commissioners were however silent on the company handling the rehabilitation of the facility, the amount for which the contract was awarded and the time for its completion.
Signature TV recently did a special report on the abandoned facility and made a strong case for the revamping of the once prestigious hotel.
The Hotel Presidential in Enugu was built by the administration of the late premier of the defunct Eastern Region, Dr. Michael Okpara, and was opened in 1963 but became moribund as result of years of neglect and mismangement by successive governments.
