First Lady Flags Off Women Empowerment Programme In Enugu

Nigeria’s First Lady and wife of the president, Oluremi Tinubu, has flagged off the Renewed Hope Initiative and Women Empowerment Programme in Enugu State. 

The initiative is aimed at supporting women traders and small-scale business owners across the country.

Tinubu who was represented by the wife of the Enugu State Governor, Nkechinyere Mbah, said the programme is designed to uplift women who work tirelessly to sustain their families, educate their children, and drive community development.

Beneficiaries who received the support expressed joy, describing the grant as a lifeline that will help them grow their businesses and improve family wellbeing.

In partnership with the Tony Elumelu Foundation, a donation of One Billion Naira has been made to the Renewed Hope Initiative, targeted at directly empowering 18,500 women nationwide.

Under the programme, 500 women from each of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory will receive N50,000 each to recapitalize and expand their small businesses.

Mrs Tinubu believes that the scheme will transform lives, strengthen families, and build stronger communities across Nigeria.
