The Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah has offered full scholarship to Master Israel Echezona, a 17-year old indigene of the state, who emerged the overall best candidate in the entrance examination into the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Zaria.
Receiving the beneficiary and his mother, at the Government House, Mbah said the state would offset the N23.2m initial fee and also take charge of all remaining financial obligations until the recipient completes his training as a pilot.
Mbah said the gesture was in line with his administration’s drive to equip the children and youths of the state with requisite education and skills to excel in life.
He urged him to continue on the path of excellence to justify the investment and confidence reposed in him by the state and assured him of full support going forward.
Reacting, Master Echezona pledged to make Enugu State proud, saying the governor had shown that there is hope for Nigeria.
He urged the youths not to lose hope, but work hard to be the best in whatever they do.
Mrs. Ukamaka Echezona, mother of the beneficiary while thanking Governor Mbah said she had lost hope, given the amount involved and expressed surprise at the speed with which the governor attended to their plea for help.
