A Human Rights Group, “Restore Hope For The Boy Child Initiative” has described the release of the minors who were detained over the #EndBadGovernance protest as victory for human rights.

The minors were released and charges brought against them dropped following a directive by President Bola Tinubu.

The released minors were facing trial for treason and other charges as a result of participation in the last EndHunger protest during which Nigerians expressed their anger over the current economic situation in the country.

The charges were dropped by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi which led to their discharge by Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Abuja Federal High Court.

At a news conference in Abuja, the convener of the ‘Restore Hope For The Boy Child Initiative’, Babatunde Kayode expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for ordering the release of the arrested minors.

Kayode said the release of the minors brought hope and relief to their families and communities and underscored the administration’s resolve to address the grievances that sparked the protests.
