Ashraaf Islamic Foundation, a faith based,non-profit organization, has called on Nigerians to engage in agriculture in order to boost food production across the country.
The group made the call at it’s 8th Annual Ramadan lecture in Abuja which had the theme: Ramadan Lessons On Food Security : “Building Nigeria’s Path To Sustainable Economic Growth and National Development”.
The founder of the Ashraaf Islamic Foundation Dr. Sharafudeen Aliagan called on Nigerians to embrace sustainable smart farming as a solution to Nigeria’s food insecurity and promote self -sufficiency to reduces dependence on expensive market produce.
Aligan explained that the theme was chosen due to the wide spread hunger across Nigeria.
In his remark, Chairman Senate Committee on agriculture and food security, Senator Saliu Mustapha said food security is essential for everyone and should be prioritized adding that the senate is doing everything to strengthen agricultural extension delivery service across the country.

The Chief of Army Staff and Inspector General of police both called for support and collaboration among Nigerians.
For the traditional rulers, to achieve sustainable economic growth, the youth must be actively involved in agricultural activities and the government needs to create an avenue for them to thrive.
Highlights of the event were Qur’an recitation, empowering over 200 people with disability and prayer for the nation.
