The Israeli military said citizens could leave shelters after being told to take cover during a fresh barrage of Iranian missile attacks on Sunday.

“Following the situational assessment, the Home Front Command published that it is now permitted to leave protected spaces in all areas across the country”, the military said in a statement.

The army had called on the population to take shelter after detecting missiles launched from Iran, and alert sirens had sounded in parts of the country.

Israel launched an unprecedented attack on the Islamic Republic on Friday.

Vehicles await in traffic as people get out of Tehran through an artery in the city’s west on June 15, 2025. Iranian media said an Israeli strike hit the Tehran police headquarters in the city centre on June 15, as the two foes exchanged fire for a third day.

Its strikes hit nuclear and military facilities, killed top commanders, nuclear scientists and dozens of civilians, and sought to destroy the country’s defence capabilities.
