Salman Garba, the newly appointed Kano State Police Commissioner, has refuted claims of being a blood relative of deposed Emir Aminu Ado Bayero. During his inaugural press briefing at the command headquarters in Bompai, Kano, Garba emphasized his commitment to serving all residents of Kano, irrespective of religion, ethnicity, or color.
He outlined his strategic approach to enhancing security, stating, “The security of life and property is our primary concern. We will adhere strictly to the law and have developed a comprehensive action plan focused on collaborative policing, after analyzing crime trends in the state.”
Garba highlighted his dedication to empowering police officers to tackle the resurgence of thuggery (Daba) and other criminal activities in Kano’s metropolitan areas. “I am here as a Nigerian, committed to serving all Nigerians. The rumor of my relation to Bayero is new to me. My priority is to serve Kano to the best of my ability,” he declared.
The CP assured the public of his resolve to bolster security, aiming to create a safer environment where residents can thrive, businesses can flourish, and visitors feel welcome. Acknowledging the state’s security challenges, Garba stressed the importance of collective responsibility and vowed to collaborate closely with the government and citizens to enhance trust and safety in Kano.
Garba praised his predecessor, AIG Usaini Gumel, for his accomplishments and pledged to build on his legacy. He also called on the public to support the police in their endeavors to maintain peace and stability across Kano State.
