President Muhammadu Buhari’s niece, Hajiya Rabiatu Muhammed was among the 17 nominees that Katsina State House of Assembly confirmed as commissioners on Wednesday.
Hajiya Muhammed from Daura Local Government Area of the State is the daughter of the late elder brother of President Buhari.
She holds a Masters in Public health, among other qualifications.
Other nominees who were also confirmed as commissioners include, Musa Adamu Funtua (Funtua LG); Yau Usman Gwajo- Gwajo (Mai’adua); Tasiu Dahiru Dandagoro (Batagarawa); Abdullahi Imam (Musawa); Dr.Rabe Wasiu ( Mani); Faruk Lawal Zobbe (Kankara); Mukhtar Gidado (Dutsinma); Abdulkadir Sani Aliyu Danladi (Katsina) and Associate Prof; Badamosi Lawal ( Charanchi).
Others include Abdulkadiri Zakka (Safana); Usman Nadada (Katsina); Kassim Mutallah (Funtua) Abdulkarim Yahaya ((Dutsi); Mustapha Mahmud (Ingawa); Yakubu Nuhu Danja ( Danja) and Hamza Zuleima (Faskari).
Dandagoro, Faskari and Lawal are returning commissioners as they worked with Governor Aminu Masari during his first term in office.
The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Tasiu Musa-Maigari implored the newly confirmed commissioners not to disappoint Governo Masari, adding that the governor had confidence in their ability to serve the state meritoriously.
The house of Assembly began the screening exercise on Monday. Twelve nominees were screened on Monday and Tuesday.
The last five nominees were screened on Wednesday before the House cleared all of them.
All the newly-confirmed commissioners are expected to be sworn in next week when Governor Masari returns from his official trip outside the country.
