The Katsina State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) on Tuesday distributed palliatives to people living with disabilities alongside Internally Displaced Persons, widows, orphans and most vulnerable persons in the State.

Each of the beneficiaries, 3,850 in number drawn from the 34 LGAs of the State, benefited from 10 KG bags of rice, donated to the State Government by the Bank of Industry (BOI) to cushion the effect of hardship facing most people in the State.

The Executive Secretary of the Agency, Hajiya Binta Hussaini Dangani while distributing the items at the premises of the agency in the State Capital, announced that the beneficiaries were randomly selected to benefit from the program.

Dangani explained that this particular intervention program is the 74th of its kind since the coming of the present state administration of Governor Dikko Radda, urging beneficiaries not to sell out the items.

According to Dangani, efforts are on the pipeline to take similar intervention for banditry victims and IDPs in the banditry-affected LGAs such as Jibia, Batsari, Faskari and Kankara respectively.

On his part, the State Governor, Malam Dikko Radda flagged off the distribution exercise, calling on wealthy individuals and corporate bodies in the State to emulate the Bank of Industry (BOI) in this direction.

“Since our inception in 2023, we have implemented various programs aimed at bettering the lives of the masses in Katsina State”, Radda added.
