LIMCAF Arts Festival Announces 2022 Activities
The 2022 edition of the Life In My City Arts Festival, LIMCAF kicked off on Tuesday, 11th October 2022, in Enugu.
LIMCAF arts director, Ayo Adewunmi who announced the commencement of the festival at Enugu headquarters of the organization said LIMCAF is the biggest youth festival of arts in Nigeria.
The festival features visual arts as well as multimedia workshops.
Dr. Adewunmi added that LIMCAF since its inception has created and sustained a platform which has empowered over 1500 young artists and promoted art pan Nigeria through the annual competition that offers young people the opportunity to showcase and commercialize their productions.
He said that the theme for 2022 is “paradox of muted Echoes, a theme that suggests that things may not always be the way they are perceived.
The theme suggests that sometimes silence being a vital part of sound may be a potent device to enable us to hear from within.
Adewunmi stated that the selection process for LIMCAF 2022 is in 3 stages, an online election by the National jury of works that are suitable for Regional Exhibitions, and a physical exhibition of the selected entries at the regions and finally the grand finale exhibition of the top 100 artworks in Enugu.
He also said that the grand finale exhibition will open on 22nd October while the award night will be on the 29th of October 2022 at the International Conference Centre, Institute of Management and Technology, IMT, Enugu.
The Arts Director also said that the chairman of LIMCAF Board of trustees, elder K. U Kalu, has guaranteed that this year’s grand finale promises to be very interesting based on the quality of the entries, support received from the MTN and Ford foundation, as well as the support from the LIMCAF’s patrons His majesty Obi of Onitsha and Emeritus professor EI AMATSUI.
