Military Personnel Patrol Abuja City and Environs to forstall breakdown of law & order as #RevolutionNow Protesters mark anniversary

Military personnel and the Police are patrolling the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, to forestall the breakdown of law and order as supporters of Omoyele Sowore mark the anniversary of #RevolutionNow.

Over 40 #RevolutionNow protesters are alleged to have been arrested in Abuja by military personnel deployed by the government to patrol different parts of the city.

Signaturet.org correspondent who monitored the protest said vehicles coming into the city centre were subjected to thorough search, unconfirmed report indicates that protesters, who were coming from the Mararaba axis, were arrested around the Unity Fountain and thrown into at least six trucks that whisked them away to an unknown destination.

According to the source, the security agents are searching every vehicle passing through the route in a bid to identify and apprehend other persons participating in the protest.

A convoy of over 50 vehicles loaded with heavily-armed security personnel were seen patrolling the Unity Fountain and Transcorp Junction areas of the city. Reports also indicate that protesters were arrested in Lagos on Tuesday.

Citizens in large numbers were said to have been out to the streets in major cities across the country in commemoration of the first anniversary of the #RevolutionNow protest.

Sowore and his supporters are demanding what they called “better governance from the administration of President MuhamXmadu Buhari  and the initial protest that culminated into the arrest and detention of Sowore commenced on August 5, 2019.
