Mobile court convicts 20 for FCT lockdown violation

A total of 35 vehicles were on Monday impounded while 20 violators of the lockdown directive of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), were convicted at Dantata Bridge Mobile Court in Abuja.

The court was presided over by a magistrate, identified simply as Olubunmi, while the prosecutor was identified simply as Mubarak.

Meanwhile, there was substantial compliance with the lockdown directive in the Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory.

One of our correspondents who monitored the situation observed that many of the markets in the area were shut.

Meanwhile, the police in Abuja have arrested nine  suspects for allegedly producing fake FCT COVID-19 exemption tags.

The FCT police spokesman, DSP Anjuguri Manzah, in a statement said, “Since the commencement of this operation, the command has arrested a total of nine suspects for producing fake COVID-19 exemption tags, and seven suspects who obtained the fake tags and are using same to defy the Presidential lockdown order.”

The Commissioner of Police FCT, Bala Ciroma, said the suspects would be prosecuted.
