Next Enugu Governor Should Come From Enugu-East – Chimaroke Nnamani, others

All Political parties in Enugu State have been urged to zone the governorship position in the forthcoming 2023 elections to Enugu East Senatorial Zone.

The call was one of the major resolutions reached at the high profile indoor meeting held on Sunday at the Palace of the Traditional Ruler of Nike, Igwe Julius Nnaji.

The Speaker, Enugu State House Assembly, Edward Ubosi who comes from Enugu-East told newsmen that zoning the Gubernatorial Position to Enugu East Senatorial Zone will promote peace and political stability in the state.

He added that the leaders of the zone were working on a partnership with other Senatorial Zones in Enugu state in other to achieve their quest to produce the next governor.

In his words, “we will visit other Senatorial Zones, both collectively and as individuals to let them know we are not fighting. They should give us the opportunity to serve”.

Ubosi added that those trying to change the rotational arrangement of governance in Enugu State are few and that the controversy and increasing tension on where the next Governor will come from in 2023 is the handiwork of those who want to create confusion.

On eligibility of everyone from Enugu East Senatorial Zone, especially the people of Isi Uzo Local Government Area to become the next governor of Enugu State; the Speaker responded that “anybody from Enugu-East Senatorial Zone is qualified to be the governor in 2023”.

“Anybody from Enugu-East Senatorial Zone; from any local government is qualified. Isi Uzo is in Enugu-East Senatorial Zone and any person from the six Local governments in the Senatorial Zone is qualified to be the governor” he reiterated.

Also, other prominent sons of Enugu-East Senatorial Zone, who spoke to the newsmen after the indoor meeting such as Honorable Uche Ede and U.S.A Igwesi described zoning in the State as an unwritten understanding.
