Former minister of Labour, Dr. Chris Ngige is back to the Kind Correctional Centre.

He will remain there for the next three days when justice Miriam Hassan of the FCT high court will rule on his elegibility for bail.

At Monday’s resumed hearing of Dr Ngige’s trial for alleged contract fraud , the EFCC counsel Sylvanus Tahir, told the court that Dr. Ngige was a flight risk, having travelled out of the country earlier and failed to report that his international passport got missing.

He told the court that the EFCC opposed bail to Ngige because he could abscond.

However Ngige’s counsel Patrick.Ikwueto.SAN told the court that the incident of Ngige’s missing travel document was duly reported to the Nigerian high commission in London where the passport got missing.

The Nigerian high commission provided the former minister with the documents to return to the country . He could not therefore be a flight risk.

After listening to arguments from both parties, the presiding judge, Mariam Hassan, adjourned the matter.

She said ruling on the bail application will be delivered on Thursday, December 18.

Dr. Chris Ngige was ordered to remain in the Kuje correctional centre pending the ruling on his bail application on Thursday.
