Nigeria Artists have unique skills – Major General A.T Ibrahim Rtd

The former General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division, of the Nigerian Army, Enugu, Major General A.T Ibrahim retired has applauded Nigerian youths for their unique skills of art.

The retired military officer was speaking at the opening ceremony of an art exhibition held in Abuja on Tuesday by the Life In My City Art Festival, Abuja/Zaria region with the theme” Paradox of Muted Echoes”.

Major General Ibrahim, who chaired the occasion commended the organizers for creating a platform for the younger artist to showcase their talents and compete in the art community.

The Executive Director, Life in My City Art Festival, Abuja/Zaria region, Kevin Ejiofor while giving a background of the festival, says it has been in existence for over fifteen years and empowered quite a number of talented artists.

He described the festival as an annual celebration of creativity featuring young talents in the Nigerian art landscape.

Also speaking at the event, The Director General National Gallery of Art, Ebeten Ivara says the essence of the festival is to promote the artist and promote the artwork as it serves a commercial purpose for foreign investors.

He added they are collaborating with other art groups to promote Nigerian artists nationally and internationally.

For some of the artist that exhibited their work at the ongoing art exhibition was inspired and has this to say.

Life in my City Art Festival is one of the biggest youth art events in Nigeria that features visual art competitions. The 2022 selection has three categories, an online election by the national jury, a physical exhibition of selected entries in the region and a grand finale exhibition of the top 100 artworks in Enugu.

The grand finale exhibition will hold between 22nd to 29th October 2022, with a Gala and Award Night, the climax of the festival which usually takes place in Enugu.
