Tears and Sadness were evident as many gathered as the Burial ceremony of the soldiers killed by terrorists in Niger State took place at the national military cemetery Abuja.

The burial ceremony was attended by senior military officials, government officials, soldiers and families of the deceased, indeed the remembrance of the fallen, evoked deep feelings of nostalgia.

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, says the bodies of the fallen is proof of the military’s unwavering commitment to rid the nation of terrorists and criminal elements.

The burial started which began with a citation of the fallen soldiers and then proceeded with the presentation of Nigeria’s flag to the families of the deceased.

General Christopher Musa, while speaking after laying wreaths on their graves and presenting the national flags to the deceased’s next of kins, Musa said they joined the family members in their griefs, adding that the deaths of their loved ones would not be in vain.

“Those that did this, and those that have continued our men, wherever they are, we will get them out, we will smoke them out and we will ensure that they never have any other opportunity to kill any other person, that I assure you.”

“We will hunt you down, we will bring you to justice. We will not relent until we get those causing havocs in the country,” the distraught Defence Chief said.

The military had last week disclosed that a total of 36 personnel of the military paid the supreme price during the ambush which occurred on the Zungeru-Tegina road and the crash in Chukuba area of Shiroro, all in Niger State.
