NJC RECOMMENDS 21 CANDIDATES FOR JUDICIAL APPOINTMENT, BARS JUDGES FROM PROMOTION
The National Judicial Council has recommended two judges for appointment as heads of court for Ekiti amd Yobe states.
At the end of its 109th meeting in Abuja, the council recommended justice Adekanye Lekan Ogunmoye as chief judge of Ekiti state and Kadi ABBA Mammadi as Grand Kadi of Yobe state. The council also recommended Mainasara Ibrahim Umar to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointment as chairman, code of conduct tribunal.
In a statement in Abuja on Thursday, the council said that it recommended a total of 21 candidates for appointment into various judicial offices. The candidates were recommended after all complaints against their appointment were determined by a committee.
The successful candidates include two high court judges for Cross River State, three for Ogun state, three for Zamfara Sharia court of appeal.
Plateau state got one for Customary Court of Appeal and Katsina got four for the high court.
Meanwhile the council has barred Hon. Justice Isaac Essien of the industrial court from being considered for promotion for a period of three years.
He was found guilty of judicial misconduct.
