A delegation of Igbo leaders Friday met with President Muhammadu Buhari and made a request for the release of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu.
The request they said, was to pave way for the restoration of peace, safety and economic activities in the South East region of Nigeria.
The delegation was led by 93 year old Mbazulike Amaechi and former Governor of Anambra State Chukwuemeka Ezeife
Fridays meeting which Signature TV learnt was facilitated by the Minister of Labour and Employment Dr Chris Ngige, is part of a new strategy by Igbo leaders to engage the Federal Government and all stakeholders in the South-East and find a lasting solution to the insecurity challenges and separatist agitations in the South East.
