Notable Nigerians Celebrate Kole Shettima of MacArthur Foundation on 65th Birthday

Notable Nigerians have hailed the Africa Director of the MacArthur Foundation, for his contribution to democracy, human rights and nation building.

They praised Shettima on Wednesday in Abuja at his 65th birthday anniversary celebration.

Sitting in this hall are scholars, activists, human rights advocates, media executives and MacArthur grantees who gathered honor a man who has played significant
role in promoting peace, justice, and democratic governance in Nigeria.

Kole Shetimma has contributed to Nigeria’s democracy, human rights advocacy, and nation-building.

But who is Kole Shetimma and what kind of person is he?

For many Nigerians including deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Amina Muhammad and former Governor of Ekiti State Kayode Fayemi the Mac Arthur Africa Director is a man devoted to mentoring young leaders and supporting organisations which have contributed to addressing developmental challenges in the country.

The Birthday Keynote address which was solemn delivered by Dr. Emmanuel Akwetey from Ghana focused on the role of Philanthropy in Strengthening Democracy in Africa.

A panel discussion on the topic of the birthday keynote address identified how democracy could be strengthened in Africa using philanthropy.

High point of the event was the cutting of the birthday cake with different organisations who witnessed the birthday including school children.
