Nwagu Charges Junior Chamber International on good leadership Style

Junior Chamber International, Abuja Metro Chapter (AMJC), over the weekend got a new set of young leaders with trusted capacity, grit and resilience to run the transformational leadership agenda of the organization for the next one year in office.

At the event, Barrister Chinedu Nwagu, a good governance and human rights advocate who was the Theme speaker charged the new leaders on the need for inclusiveness to have a successful reign.

Nwagu who spoke at the AMJC 39th Convention/40th Investiture, on the Theme: Transformational Leadership; Leading Beyond Limits, said a leader should be able to delegate leadership and authority, but never responsibility, as he should not always lead, but must always be responsible for whoever is leading.

Nwagu added that leadership is not a position or title but a challenge to lead a journey of growth. He therefore urged the incoming President Usman Mamman Sani to be a good leader who handles his people well.

The outgoing President, JCI Abuja Metro, JCIN Amb. Innocent Okafor, in his valedictory speech appreciated everyone for standing by him for a successful tenure. He urged the incoming administration to achieve more than he did in office.

Okafor said, leadership is a continuous learning curve, as no leader is ever perfect. He said there is going to be a time of high and low moments, smooth and tough times, and many adventurous experience.

While accepting the mantle of leadership as the 40th Chapter President AMJC, Usman Mamman Sani pledges to be an open- minded President who will listen and work with everyone in the interest of the chapter.

Sani, congratulated the 2022 president for his stewardship to the chapter, while promising continuity for the betterment of the chapter.

He added that being part of the past administration, he has learnt a lot from the outgoing President and promise that his team will come up with different lofe changing projects and programs that will align with the objectives of the organisation.

Highlights of the occasion included awards presentation to some individuals in their contribution to the association, Investiture of the 2023 president, Inauguration of the 2023 board of directors some of whom are : Damilola Aregbesola- Executive Vice President, Nancy Tabuanu – Vice President amongst others.

The Junior Chamber International (JCI) is a non-profit organization composed of young active citizens between the ages of 18-40 years who are engaged and committed towards creating community-based impacts for sustainable national development.

 

Abuja Metro is one of the chapters of JCI across the 36 states of the federation which was launched and accredited for operation in September 1983.

Over the past 39 years, JCI Abuja Metro chapter have recorded significant developmental achievements within the Abuja metropolis with notable socio- economic interventions at all levels of national existence.
