Meanwhile, the Osun State Government on Tuesday directed relaxation spots, event centers, and supermarkets to operate at half of their capacities, just as it announced a ban on youth carnivals and annual town day celebrations.

The directives, which were part of new guidelines to curb the spread of coronavirus in the state, were contained in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Wole Oyebamiji, after the State Executive Council meeting.

The government also suspended the annual celebration by communities and advised that such celebrations should be changed to virtual.

The statement reads in part, “Part of the new directives is that all social clubs, hotels, departmental stores, supermarkets and event centers are to henceforth operate at half of their capacities.

“Also the council directed the citizenry to embrace the use of face masks in public places, washing of hands with soap and water, hand sanitizers and social distancing as compulsory steps to avoid infections. The council pleaded with the citizenry to continue to take their health seriously as their personal responsibility and enjoin all to adhere to the COVID-19 protocols.”
