Over 2 Million Nigerians benefits from NYSC Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers
The Director-General of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Ibrahim Shuaibu says over Two million Nigerians have benefited from the NYSC medical teams on the Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers platform, adding that the Scheme has donated over 300 wheelchairs with the support of partners through the programme.
The National Youth Service Corps on Monday in Abuja started a one-week Medical outreach under the NYSC Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (NYSC-HIRD) programme with the theme “Health is Wealth for Advancement.
According to the DG, the 2021 medical outreach will take place simultaneously in all Thirty-six states of the Federation including Federal Capital Territory.
He appreciated the Federal and State Ministries of Health, National Primary Health Care Development Agency, United Nations International Children’s Fund (UNICEF), World Health Organization WHO, the Society for Family Health International, other International and Non-Governmental Organizations, including Pharmaceutical companies and public-spirited individuals for their impact towards providing selflessness and dedicated services to Nigerians.
The Village Head, Anguwan Hausawa Lokogoma community (FCT), Bello Musa appreciated the Management of NYSC for choosing to come to the community and deliver free healthcare services for the people and urge other stakeholders to emulate the good work.
The Village Head also called on the government to provide for the community good infrastructure, quality education, electricity, health Care delivery, amongst others.
Some of the NYSC Medical team in the Community include; Pharmacists, Medical lab scientists, Physiotherapists, Optometrists, Dentists, psychologist (Counseling) and Public Health Supervisors.
Tests conducted at the medical outreach included; laboratory tests, Malaria (RDT) Widal (Typhoid) Blood sugar and Urinalysis, and others.
In an interview with Signature TV, a corp Member from Charity Community Development Service (CDS), Kennedy Esimikhe said the motto of his CDS group “Rendering Love to Humanity” so he is happy to give the community back from the little he and his colleagues contributed.
