Ownership of Shoprite to change hands
Ownership of Shoprite may change hands if bid by Persianas Group to acquire the supermarket chain is successful.
This follows the decision of Retail Supermarkets Nigeria LTD owners of ShopRite to sell off their stake.
The South African company had in August 2020 announced its decision to leave Nigeria.
The company which has been operational in Nigeria for over 15year has over 2300 stores across Africa.
Retail Supermarkets Nigeria Limited though discussions are ongoing it is yet to decide whether to sell all or majority of her stake in Retail Supermarket Nigeria Limited.
Meanwhile, staff of the company are already up in arms, shutting outlets and demanding proper pay off as they claim the company has not carried them along in their decision to sell the company.
They are also accusing the South African owners of unfair treatment of staff with little or no increment in salaries in the last 15 years.
