PDP Launches Voter Registration Drive In Oji River, LGA

The People’s Democratic Party, has launched a voter registration sensitization program in Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State to educate residents on the importance of voter registration and encourage participation in upcoming elections.

According to Signature TV correspondent, Ugonne Owalu, the initiative is a critical step toward strengthening democracy and combating voter apathy.

To address the low voter turnout observed during the 2023 general elections, the People’s Democratic Party in Enugu State conducted a voter education program in Oji River Local Government Area, emphasizing the importance of eligible voters participating in the ongoing voter registration exercise.

Party leaders described the initiative as a vital step toward strengthening democracy and fostering positive change through active citizen participation in democratic processes.

The Enugu State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, Dr. Martin Chukwunwike, highlighted the need for widespread participation, particularly in the Southeast, to ensure the dividends of democracy and drive meaningful change.

The Chairman of Oji River Local Government Area, Greg Anyaegbudike, commended the enthusiasm and participation of residents, noting that it would contribute to a brighter future for the people of Oji River.

Participants expressed gratitude to the organizers of the sensitization exercise and pledged to share the knowledge gained with their families and communities, thereby amplifying the impact of the voter registration drive.

The continuous voter registration, which began online on August 8, is expected to run until August 30, 2026.
