The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar has rejected the verdict of the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT) that affirmed Bola Tinubu’s victory at the February 2023 poll.

The court had on Wednesday thrown out Atiku’s petitions, that of his Labour Party (LP) counterpart Peter Obi and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM). The flagbearer of the main opposition party said he has instructed his lawyers to appeal the verdict.

Speaking on Thursday in Abuja at a press briefing with the theme “Let’s Keep Hope Alive” Atiku believed that the judgement failed to restore confidence in the dreams of free and fair elections devoid of human manipulations

Also speaking, the acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Damagum, said his party is shocked by the pronouncement of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) as it left lovers of democracy with a lot of questions, whether the Nigerian Constitution, Electoral Act and other laws guiding the conduct of credible elections in Nigeria are still functional.

The People’s Democratic Party urged all their supporters to remain steadfast and calm.
