Police Parade Knife-Wielding Gang Allegedly Terrorising Kano
The Kano State Police Command has paraded suspected members of a knife-wielding gang that residents say have been terrorising them within the city capital.
According to accounts from victims, the accused take advantage of the busy roads during the rush hour and public gatherings to unleash mayhem.
Despite pockets of insecurity, Kano, the centre of commerce in the northwest region, remained relatively peaceful until the emergence of knife-wielding gangs.
Ibrahim Idris, a graduate of Federal Polytechnic; Umar Muhammad, a staff of the National Commission for Museums and Monuments; Atiku Tijjani, a physiotherapist at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital; Muhammad Sulaiman of Sharada Quarters; and a 30-year-old tailor, Abdullahi Bala, did not survive the attacks by the gang.
However, Musa Sani was lucky to survive with injuries to his left arm.
The gang arrested by the Anti-Daba Division of the police command are notorious for taking advantage of busy areas, wreaking havoc on members of the public in broad daylight.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna, called on the public to help them find other members of the gang from among the residents of the city.
The gang members may have been arrested and headed to prosecution, but the people of Kano may not be able to rest easy until the gangs are completely eliminated.
