Professor Ejim defeated his opponent, Professor Cyril Dim, 102 votes to 82, while Professor Ugwoke Eze was returned unopposed

Signature TV learnt that elections could not take place in the Nsukka campus of the University and some venues at UNEC, as officials of the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) disrupted the elections on the strength of the ongoing ASUU strike.

ASUU has been on strike for months with no end in sight, as the union and the Federal Government continue to disagree on the way forward.

Candidates elected for leadership positions in the Schools and Faculties of the University are expected to serve for two years.
