PUBLIC AFFAIRS ANALYST, CHIMAROKE NWOSU SAYS LOCAL GOVERNMENT AUTONOMY WILL ENHANCE GOOD GOVERNANCE
A public affairs, Chimaraoke Nwosu, has called for the full implementation of the Supreme Court judgement that granted fiscal autonomy to Local Government Areas in Nigeria.
Speaking on the morning show on Signature TV, Nwosu observed that financial independence is critical in bringing about good governance at the grassroots.
He argued that many Local Governments in the country still operate with limited financial independence as funds from the federal government are often held or disbursed at the discretion of state governments.
Nwosu emphasized the importance of community participation in governance, noting that when communities are involved in policy making, budget planning and project monitoring, trust in government increases and development projects become more sustainable.
