A Public Affairs Analyst, Alex Ejindu is optimistic that the November 8 governorship election in Anambra state will be peaceful and orderly.

Ejindu who featured on the Signature breakfast show noted that the people of the state prefer transactional politics where financial benefits are given priority making the polls devoid of violence.

He said that there may be minor misunderstandings, which may not be described as the major threat to the polls.

The analyst explained that the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has traditionally dominated elections in the state, but noted that there is growing interest and support for the Labour Party making the contest potentially intense.

While lamenting the poor voter-turnout in Anambra elections which he put at below 20%, he stated that many will still vote according to their conscience despite financial inducements,

Ejiadu added that while post-election litigations are expected due to malpractice and power struggles, while vote-buying and corruption will remain key challenges in the election.

He therefore called for the establishment of a stronger system to curb corruption and ensure credibility in Nigeria’s electoral process.
