The United Nations resident coordinator and representative of the UN Secretary General in Rwanda, Professor Ozonnia Ojielo, has said Africa must look inward for solutions to its challenges rather than depend on external powers.

Speaking on Signature TV Morning Show, Ojielo noted that since the 1990s, Africa has suffered from weak global structures, poverty, wars, and poor governance.

He regretted the education system in Africa that prepares graduates who manage to cram to pass examinations instead of producing a creative manpower that can bring about development of the continent and tackle poverty.

Ojielo urged Africans to some introspection, push for national dialogue, and demand accountable leadership insisting that democracy must be made to work emphasizing that citizens want a Nigeria—and an Africa—that truly works for its people.
