Two people lost their lives during a road accident which occurred around 6: 00 PM on Friday in the Egbado area of Ewekoro local government of Ogun State, along the Lagos/ Abeokuta expressway, while another sustained injury.
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola confirmed the incident in a statement issued in Abeokuta, the state capital on Saturday.
According to her, the accident involved a Howo truck with registration number FGE 904ZS, whose driver drove against the traffic rammed into a tricycle, leading to the death of the two persons.
“The incident involved a Howo truck with registration number FGE 904 ZS, owned by Dangote Cement Company in Ibeshe, driven by a person whose name and address are currently unknown, and a tricycle operated by Samuel Egede, a 33-year-old male from Folami Ifo,” she said
“Upon reaching the accident site, the truck driver went against traffic regulations by driving the wrong way, colliding with the tricycle that had the right of way.”
“After receiving the report, a team of traffic personnel arrived at the scene, created a rough sketch map, and took photographs.
“The bodies were removed and taken to the State Hospital Morgue in Ifo for autopsy. Both the accident vehicle and the tricycle were brought to the police station for vehicle inspection and safekeeping,” she said.
Odutola added that the motor traffic department is conducting further investigations, and updates will be communicated.
