RUSSIAN MILITARY SAY THEY CAPTURED ANOTHER VILLAGE IN SUMY REGION OF UKRAINE
Russian Defence ministry released on Wednesday (June 4) a video showing what is given as Vodolagy village in Sumy region of Ukraine, bringing the region’s capital closer to within the range of frontline drones.
Reuters was able to confirm the location of part of the video as Vodolagy in the Sumy region from the position of the trees and fields and the shape of the houses which matched satellite imagery of the area. Reuters not able to verify the location of the whole video or the date the video was filmed.
Reuters could not independently confirm the battlefield report.
The Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly said he wants a “buffer zone” along Russia’s border with Ukraine.
Russian President Vladimir Putin sent tens of thousands of troops into Ukraine on Feb. 24, 2022, in what he cast as a defensive move against a hostile and aggressive West. Ukraine and the West say Russia is waging an imperial-style war.
