Security Improved Under My Watch, Says Outgoing Katsina Brigade Commander

The outgoing commander of the 17 Brigade in Katsina State, Brigadier General Ibikunle Ajose believes the security has improved in the state under his watch.

Ajose, who is the 5th Commander of the Brigade, assumed duty in January 2022 until July 2023.

While handing over the affairs of the brigade to the newly deployed Brigade Commander, Oluremi Fadairo, on Friday, Ajose believed that daily attacks along the famous Jibia-Katsina Road among other vulnerable communities have also dropped significantly.

According to him, the troops during the recently concluded general and supplementary elections, were able to successfully handle the security situation with the support of sister security agencies in the state.

He recalled the challenges most residents face, especially while traveling or moving at night in the last year, has been reversed with troops of the brigade ever ready and committed to always responding to distress calls.

Ajose also attested that besides better security in the state, there were improved medical facilities in the barracks as well as a better standard of living among the troops while heading the brigade.

“I have fought in my own way, and I believe it was a fight well fought. When I came on board as Commander of the Brigade, the security situation was not as good as what we have now,” he said.

“In fact, we had almost daily attacks along Jibia-Katsina Road and other places, and I must say that it has reduced to the barest minimum. With the support of the officers and soldiers of the brigade, the sector two operations (Hadarin Daji), and other sister agencies, we were able to eliminate terrorists in the state.

“We also have a 24-hour emergency call centre that responds to any distress calls at any time of the day”.

In his address during the handing-over ceremony, the 6th Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Oluremi Fadairo, pledged to do his very best and take the brigade to a greater height.

He solicited support and cooperation from the officers and men of the brigade, stating that his office doors are quite open to listen to advice and suggestions.

The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of a certificate of service to the outgoing commander of the brigade.
