Several People Feared Dead as NNPC Loaded Truck Rams into Vehicles in Abuja
An NNPC truck carrying petrol crashed into four vehicles on Tuesday in Abuja after losing brake along the Dutse-Alhaji_Bwari road.
The authorities say the vehicle did not burst into flames, as FRSC officials and fire services were on ground to avert the disaster.
Eyewitnesses say the driver lost control of the truck around Dutse_Sokale and ended up crashing at Dutse_police signboard.
Traffic build-up extended to the Dutse_Alhaji market as most motorists and passengers could not get to their destinations in time.
Damilola Abudu reports that as at 1 is Wednesday, movement on the Abuja-Bwari axis was at a standstill.
The heavy gridlock experienced along the Abuja-Bwari axis started easing gradually from about 3 am Wednesday and as at 7 am no trace of the accident was visible at the scene of the accident.
Officials of the Federal Roads Safety Corps were on sight helping to control traffic and clear the vehicles the NNPC articulated vehicle rammed into.
No official report has been made as regards how many lives were lost but unconfirmed reports say that about seven people died in the accident.
