Shell Seeks Protection from Imo State Government for its Assets as company restarts construction of Gas Project

Shell petroleum development company wants the IMO state government to help provide security for the company’s assets and mitigate the security challenge it faces in its operations in the state.

The company returned to its multi-billion naira Assa North/Ohaji south gas development project.

Officials of Shell who where led by the company’s general manager for security Bob Buss were at the offices of Dr Ugorji Ugorji, the commissioner for homeland security and vigilante affairs, told the commissioner that the company needed to be fully functional and therefore required a security plan within its area of operation.

The commissioner said that the ASA gas project was a priority to the state government because of its economic, security, skills and political importance. He promised that the state government would do all that is needed to give shell and its workers confidence to be fully operated.
