CJN summons 6 Chief Judges over the issuance of conflicting orders to political parties
The Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Tanko Muhammad has summoned six Chief Judges in the country over the conflicting court orders emanating from their states in the last month.
Justice Muhammed Who is the Chairman of the National Judicial Council, NJC, issued the summons to the Chief Judges in Abuja on Monday, August 30.
The summons indicated that the affected Chief Judges are to appear before the NJC to explain what warranted the issuance of conflicting orders by courts of coordinate jurisdiction.
The summoned Chief Judges are those of Rivers, Kebbi, Cross River, Anambra, Jigawa and Imo states.
Plateau Security: Lalong Relaxes Curfew In Jos, Bassa
Governor of Plateau State Simon Lalong has relaxed curfews imposed on parts of the state due to insecurity.
The Governor, in a broadcast on Monday, said the 24-hour curfew in Jos North is now to be enforced from 6 pm to 6 am until further notice.
He however noted that the ban on tricycles and hawkers remains in place within Jos/Bukuru metropolis.
Also, he announced that the Plateau Economic and Investment Summit earlier scheduled for September 1 and 2 has been postponed.
FG To Place 20,000 Nigerian Graduates in Fully Paid Jobs
President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to make a key announcement on the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme on Tuesday.
The programme aims to place 20,000 skilled young Nigerian graduates under the age of 30 into jobs in private and public sector organizations around the country.
The jobs will last for 12 months, will be fully paid, and will seek to help prepare qualifying recent graduates for their future careers and work environments.
This is according to the presidential spokesperson, Tolu Ogunlesi.
According to Ogunlesi, the goals of the program include “improving employability, building a useful career and leadership skills in young graduates, and connecting employers and potential employees.”
The programme is supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Nigeria’s electricity sector records fastest GDP growth in Q2 2021
The Nigerian electricity sector recorded a 78.16percent year-on-year real Gross Domestic Product GDP growth in the second quarter of 2021.
This was contained in the recently released Gross Domestic Product (GDP) report, by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
This is by far the highest growth rate record by any sector in the review period.
NBS had earlier reported a significant 5.01% boom of the Nigerian economy in the period.
According to the report, Nigeria’s non-oil sector of the economy was largely driven by growth recorded in trade, telecommunication, road transport, electricity, crop production, and food production.

Zambia new president sacks military and police chiefs
Zambia’s newly-elected President Hakainde Hichilema on Sunday appointed new military chiefs and replaced all police commissioners after promising to end the previous regime’s heavy-handedness.
Rights groups accused Hichilema’s predecessor Edgar Lungu of leading a “brutal crackdown” on dissent, with police violence claiming at least five lives since he was officially elected in 2016.
Hichilema, who took office last week, has been arrested over a dozen times during his political career and made restoring freedoms a hub of his electoral promises.
In a televised address to the nation, Hichilema on Sunday announced the appointment of the new army and air force chiefs, as well as a new head of the southern African country’s defence wing.

Ghanaian award-winning actor Majid Michel has advised the youth to pursue God first before chasing money.
Majid, who said money is never the first option when pursuing things in life, however, stated that this doesn’t mean people should stay in bed and not hustle.

Majid Michel is known for using his social media platforms, especially Instagram, to preach the word of God and advise his followers.

Ronaldo Completes Man Utd Medical
Cristiano Ronaldo has completed his Manchester United medical as he inches closer to a return to Old Trafford, Sky Sports reported on Monday.
Manchester United on Friday had announced that they had reached an agreement with Juventus for the transfer of Ronaldo, subject to agreement of personal terms, visa and medical.
He is expected to fire the Red Devils back to the top of the English and European games.
Ronaldo had arrived at United as a skinny 18-year-old from Sporting Lisbon in 2003 with a bag of tricks.
