Former Senate President, Senator Ken Nnamani, has called on leaders and investors from the South East to recognise the link between politics and economic growth.

Speaking at the South East Business and Investment Summit Roadshow in Abuja, Senator Nnamani warned that neglecting political engagement in economic planning could undermine the region’s development goals.

Addressing stakeholders at the forum, Senator Nnamani stressed that politics and economics are inseparable, insisting that no meaningful business progress can happen without sound political decisions.

He cited recent demolitions and business disruptions across parts of the country as examples of how policy actions can destroy years of investment overnight.

According to him, this underscores the need for business leaders and political actors in the South East to work more closely to ensure stability and growth.

Nnamani also supported calls for increased regional cooperation and investment in the South East, noting that unity among states and the private sector would help strengthen the region’s economic identity. He urged business elites to support homegrown development initiatives and invest more within the region.

Senator Nnamani’s remarks added a political dimension to the ongoing regional development conversation, reminding stakeholders that sustainable progress in the South East must combine sound economic planning with deliberate political strategy.
