Speaker Abbas Charges Muslim Women To Mobilise Support For Gender Bills In Constitution Review
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas has tasked the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN) to mobilize support for the gender-based bills in the ongoing review of the 1999 Constitution by the National Assembly.
Speaker Abbas who granted audience to the leadership of the Muslim Women Association and the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria from the northern states who called on him in Abuja charged them to attend the zonal public hearing on the constitution review.
He expressed the commitment of the 10th House to empowering women and ensuring their inclusion in politics and governance at all levels to make them count in the country.
The Speaker congratulated Muslim women association for celebrating 40 years of its existence, saying the history and achievements of the forum is commendable and Muslim Students Society for inspiring youths and its development programmes across the country
The Director-General of the Kaduna State Bureau of Interfaith, Umar Tahir, commended Speaker Abbas for his leadership style while congratulating him for successful two years in office.
