Security operatives undermining the presidential ban on inter state movement will henceforth be arrested and prosecuted
The independent corrupt practices and other related offenses commission, ICPC, and the national orientation agency announced a collaboration at a news conference in Abuja on Tuesday to tackle the challenge.
Director general of the orientation agency Dr Garba Abari said that the collaboration between the two organizations was to ensure that President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive stopping inter state movement which is designed to contain the corona virus infection in the country is not undermined by corrupt security officials.
Dr Abari said that the agency has produced sensitization messages in both pigin and Nigerian languages, advising Nigerian to key into those messages and respect all the protocol on containing the corona virus .
The executive secretary of ICPC, prof. Usman Abubakar said that the commission has also established a Covid19 fund monitoring team to track funds managed by the presidential task force on the pandemic and other related organs of government to ensure that public funds are not diverted to private pockets.
Prof. Abubakar expressed the ICPC’s appreciation on the collaboration initiated the national orientation agency noting that the relationship will strengthen the fight against the Covid19 scourge.
Present at the press conference were directors and other senior officials of the two organizations.
