The President National Association of Resident Doctors, Okhuaihesuiyi Uyilawa has slammed the Federal Government for not being able to come to an agreement with the striking resident doctors even as they have shown a willingness to dialogue.
This is coming as the Federal Government failed to show up at the planned meeting with the resident doctors at the Ministry of Health on Wednesday in Abuja.
The proposed meeting between the striking doctors and the Federal Government ended in futility as officials of the association waited in the conference hall but no delegate from the government side to dialogue with the President of the association, Okhuaihesuyi Uyilawa who frowned at the behaviour called on the government to keep to their promise.
Uyilawa said the association’s objective is for Nigerians to have access to good healthcare but will not put their lives on the line.
After a closed-door meeting with the striking doctors and the Minister of Health represented by Director Health Services, Adebimpe Adebiyi, the National Association of Resident Doctor’s Secretary, Jerry Isogun said the government is not taking any step to address the issues of the striking doctors and seems not to care about the health of Nigerians.

With the failure of today’s meeting it looks like there is no end in sight for the ongoing strike.
