Students, residents scamper for safety as unknown gunmen fire shots in Owerri
There was heavy shooting in Owerri, the capital of Imo State on Monday as gunmen returned to the city.
The gunmen shot sporadically in different areas of the city as residents and road users scampered for safety.
It was gathered that some of the affected areas were First Bus Stop Irete, Owerri West LGA, around Douglas and Wethral roads; Akwakuma axis and Control post junction.
A viral video of the incident also showed the main gate of the Imo State University being locked because of the incident.
Students of the school were sent back home and were seen among people scampering for safety.
