Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have neutralised no fewer than 10 suspected terrorists and recovered arms and logistics supplies during coordinated clearance operations across parts of Plateau State.

The military, working in collaboration with local vigilante groups, carried out the offensive in Daba and Seri villages of Wase and Kanam Local Government Areas under the ongoing Operation WUTAN DAJI.

According to the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Captain Chinonso Oteh, troops acted on credible intelligence to intercept the criminals.

“At about 08:30am on April 9, 2026, troops established strategic blocking positions between Dutsen Zaki and the Odare Forest. A large group of terrorists mounted on motorcycles was sighted moving along a known transit route and was decisively engaged,” he said.

Oteh added that the troops overpowered the attackers despite resistance.

“The troops responded with superior and well-coordinated firepower, overwhelming the terrorists. Ten were neutralized, while others fled in disarray into the surrounding forest, leaving behind casualties,” he stated.

In a related operation, the military responded to an attack on commuters along the Razat–Kafi Abu axis, forcing the assailants to retreat.

“Following the report, troops initiated a swift and comprehensive offensive. The perpetrators withdrew into the hinterlands, prompting immediate pursuit by our forces to restore peace and security,” Oteh explained.

He further disclosed that follow-up cordon-and-search operations in Suma Suga, Takwok, and nearby mountainous areas led to significant recoveries.

“Items recovered include three AK-47 rifles, three magazines, eight rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, two motorcycles, and five 25-litre jerrycans of Premium Motor Spirit intended for terrorist logistics,” he said.

The spokesperson noted that troops also recovered “a national identity card and a photograph belonging to the suspects, providing valuable leads for ongoing investigations”.

Reaffirming the military’s resolve, Oteh said, “This successful engagement marks a significant step in degrading the operational capacity of armed groups in the region. Troops remain on high alert and are in pursuit of the fleeing terrorists and their collaborators.”

He assured residents that operations would continue until normalcy is fully restored, adding that “Operation ENDURING PEACE will intensify clearance efforts across identified flashpoints to guarantee the safety of lives and property.”

The latest achievement follows Thursday’s attack by gunmen in Mbwelle village, Bokkos Local Government Area of the state, which left at least eight people killed.

The assailants reportedly stormed the community at about 11 p.m., opening fire on residents in a sporadic shooting that lasted nearly an hour.

The victims were members of the same family, while at least three others sustained injuries, and several persons remain missing.

The Chairman of Bokkos Local Government Area, Samuel Amalau, spoke with Newsmen during a phone interview, expressing concern over the recurring violence in the area.
