UKRAINE’S ZELENSKY WELCOMED IN PARIS BY FRENCH DEFENCE MINISTER

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was welcomed on Friday in Paris by French defense minister, Sebastien Lecornu, kicking off an official visit in the capital.

Zelensky attended on Thursday an international commemoration ceremony for the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy alongside other world leaders.

French President Emmanuel Macron vowed to keep standing with Ukraine, in its war against Russia.

Zelensky is set to meet U.S. President Joe Biden in Paris on Friday to discuss a package of two hundred and twenty five million dollars in weapons.

It will be their first face-to-face talks since Zelensky visited Washington in December, when the two wrestled with Republican opposition to more Ukraine aid.

They will meet again next week at a G7 summit in Italy, as rich nations discuss using Russian assets frozen after the Ukraine invasion to provide fifty billion dollars for Ukraine.

Zelensky will also be welcomed by French President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee presidential palace later on Friday evening.
