Voters in Uwani ward five of Enugu South urban constituency protest against INEC
Voters in ward five of Enugu South urban constituency refused to participate in the house of representatives rerun election scheduled for this Saturday.
The voters were protesting the use by INEC officials of photocopy of result sheets.
As it is the practice, the election officials had displayed the result sheets and other sensitive materials to the electorate before voting was to commence but what they showed were photocopies,which sparked violent objections from the voters.
The police was called in to restore normality but the voters refused to cast any ballots until the original documents were produced.
As at two thirty pm local time election in ward five of Uwani five in the Enugu South constituency was to commence.
The court of appeal had ordered the rerun election in nine polling units of the ward before a clear winner could be declared in the house of representatives election in the Enugu South federal constituency.
