Aviation Workers Suspend Planned Strike, Sign Fresh Agreement With FG

The associations and unions in the aviation industry, on Tuesday morning, suspended their planned nationwide industrial action billed to commence today after signing a fresh Memorandum of Settlement (MoS) with the federal government.

 A meeting, which was held at Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, started at about 6pm on Monday and ended Tuesday Morning, the complaints are the non-implementation of the Minimum Wage consequential adjustment in the Aviation Parastatals since 2019 and the non-approval/release of the reviewed conditions of service in the parastatals.

Briefing newsmen after the meeting, Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, said after exhaustive deliberations on the issues which the parties agreed as germane, they resolved that: The National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC), was requested to issue a service-wide circular informing all organizations in the public and private sectors that they are bound to implement the National Minimum Wage of 2019/consequential adjustments. #

 

2023: Nigeria Is Bleeding Under APC Watch, Says Wike

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State on Monday said Nigeria is bleeding under the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government. He called for unity among the PDP members and chieftains to wrest power from the ruling party next year.

Speaking during a visit to former Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Ahmed Makarfi at his residence in Kaduna, Wike said Nigerians were yearning for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to reclaim power at the federal level in 2023.

The Rivers leader slammed the APC for lacking in ideas, alleging that it cannot provide the solution to the numerous challenges facing the Nigerian State. #

 

2023: Nigeria Is Living on Extra Time – Sanusi

Ahead of the general elections, former Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has said that Nigeria is living on extra time with deeper challenges to be confronted from 2023.

Sanusi, who spoke on Monday during a reception organized in his honour by Egba Muslim in Abeokuta, asked presidential aspirants to be prepared for the numerous challenges confronting the country.

The former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor also called on Nigerians to pray for good leaders at all levels. He asked Nigerians to elect leaders who are competent to deliver the dividends of democracy to the benefit of the people. #

 

Hushpuppi: Nigeria Collaborating With US, Extradition of Abba Kyari Considered – AGF

The Nigerian government on Monday revealed some of the actions it is taking under the radar regarding the allegations against a police officer, Abba Kyari, and suspected fraudster, Ramon Abbas, popularly known as Hushpuppi.

According to the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, said top of the actions is collaboration with the United States government to ensure justice is served. ##

NFF Retains Eguavoen As Eagles Technical Adviser, Names Amuneke Chief Coach

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has retained Austine Eguavoen as the interim technical adviser of the Super Eagles, this was confirmed in a statement issued by the football body on Monday.

The NFF General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi said the Board has approved a recommendation of the Technical and Development Committee with Emmanuel Amuneke becomes the Chief Coach of the Super Eagles. Salisu Yusuf will be the 2nd Assistant Coach/Chief Coach of the CHAN team and Joseph Yobo will be 3rd Assistant while Aloysius Agu remains the Goalkeepers’ Trainer.

The latest move comes on the heels of Nigeria’s outing at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations. Nigeria’s next assignment is the 2022 FIFA World Cup playoff against Ghana billed for March. ###.
