BREAKING: Justice Tanko Muhammad Resigns As CJN
The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad has resigned.
Sources told newsmen that he resigned last night on grounds of ill-health.
Information also has it that arrangements are now on to swear in the next most senior justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola as the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria.
Until his resignation, reports had it that Justice Tanko Muhammed was seriously ill. Only last week, 14 justices of the Supreme Court had written him a letter to lament the decrepit state of affairs in the court.

Alleged Organ Harvesting: Immigration Confirms Age Of ‘Victim’ In Ekweremadu’s Case
The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has confirmed the age of the alleged victim of organ harvesting, David Nwamini, in a case involving former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, and his wife, Beatrice.
In a statement issued over the weekend, the Comptroller General of immigration, Isah Idris, said that the said kidney donor was 21, and not 15 as claimed.
Last Thursday, the London Metropolitan Police said it had arrested Senator Ekweremadu and his wife over allegations of conspiring to bring Nwamini 15, to the United Kingdom for organ harvesting.
The NIS boss stated that the applicant presented his birth certificate issued by the National Population Commission (NPC) which indicated October 12, 2000, as his date of birth, in addition to other important documents showing his age. ##

Actress turned politician, Tonto Dikeh says she has never failed with leadership and therefore, believes she is capable of succeeding as Deputy Governor of Rivers State. Dikeh made the comments on Sunday while speaking of her candidacy for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
According to her, contrary to speculations and despite her being a subject of controversy, the decision to join politics was well thought out and is one she has worked towards for at least three years.
The ADC governorship candidate in Rivers state, Tonte Ibraye, had presented Dikeh as his running mate on Friday ahead of the 2023 elections. #
World Drug Day: Abba Kyari’s Case Will Not Last Long – Marwa
Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brigadier-General Mohamed Buba Marwa, says the case against embattled Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Abba Kyari, is one that will not linger too long in the courts.
General Marwa who stated this while speaking to newsmen, said the conviction of two other defendants in the case is evidence that the matter will be treated with the urgency it deserves.
He assured Nigerians that while the men are rushing to demonstrate their patriotism, there is a special monitoring unit that is ensuring there is no laxity within the ranks of the NDLEA. ##
Rivers United Win First Nigerian League Title
Rivers United was crowned Nigerian league champions on Sunday after closest rivals Plateau United lost 2-1 at Akwa United to give the Port Harcourt side an unassailable lead with three rounds of matches still to play.
Rivers United, who play away at Nasarawa United later Sunday, have 71 points from 34 matches, 10 points clear of Plateau United, who have played 35 matches, while Remo Stars are a distant third on 53 points.
Winning the league earns United a place in next season’s CAF Champions League.
Last season, Rivers United were runners-up to another club financed by an oil-rich government, Akwa United. ##
