Court Orders FG To Comply With 35% Affirmative Action For Women
The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the government to comply with the 35 per cent affirmative action for women, which allows women to occupy 35percent of all appointments.
Delivering judgement on Wednesday, Justice Donatus Okorowo, said the Federal Government had the obligation to implement the 35 per cent affirmative action, accusing past governments of acting in breach of international treaties on women’s participation in government.
He said the 35% affirmative action which entails appointive positions for women to ensure inclusivity must not be merely on paper as Nigeria is a signatory to international treaties, particularly on those entrenching the rights of women. #

CBN Fines Four Banks Over N800m For Violating Crypto Policy
The Central Bank has fined four banks for flouting its directive on cryptocurrency transactions, which in February 2021 ordered all banks to close accounts of anyone who transacts in cryptocurrency.
In a report on Wednesday, the CBN has now fined at least four banks for failing to comply with that regulation and such banks include Stanbic IBTC, Access, United Bank for Africa and Fidelity.
Stanbic Bank was fined N200 million for two accounts alleged to have been used for crypto accounts. Access Bank was fined N500 million for failure to close customers’ crypto accounts; UBA was fined N100 million and Fidelity Bank was fined N14.3 million. #
MC Oluomo Appointed As Chairman Of Lagos Parks Management Committee
Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as Mc Oluomo, has been appointed as Chairman of the Lagos Parks Management Committee.
The committee is expected to oversee the affairs of all motor parks and garages in the state.
In a statement signed by the State Commissioner for Information, Gbenga Omotoso, the move is in fulfilment of the Government’s promise to ensure that events in the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) are not allowed to threaten law and order.
The Government on March 10 had suspended NURTW operations in all parks and garages, following the tension sparked by some events in the union. #
