Federal Government Approves US Request To Extradite Abba Kyari
Nigeria has approved the request by the United States for the extradition of suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abba Kyari.
Kyari is wanted to stand trial for conspiracy to commit wire fraud, money laundering and identity theft of conspiring with a United Arab Emirates (UAE)-based Nigerian, Ramon Abbas, aka Hushpuppi to commit the crime.
A grand jury, last April 29, filed an indictment against Kyari with the approval of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, had on Tuesday filed an application before the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court in Abuja for Kyari’s extradition.
First Batch Of Evacuees From Ukraine Expected To Arrive In Nigeria On Thursday
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Gabriel Aduda in a statement on Wednesday said the first batch of Nigerian evacuees from Ukraine is expected to arrive in Nigeria on Thursday.
According to the statement, chattered flights will begin picking up Nigerian evacuees back home from the neighbouring countries surrounding Ukraine on Wednesday.
The capacity and route of the airlines are as follows: Max Air to Romania 560 persons, Air Peace to Poland, 364 persons and Air Peace to Hungary 360 persons.
Over 200 Bandits Killed In Four Days In Niger State – Commissioner
Niger State Government said that over 200 armed bandits were killed in a gun battle between members of the Joint Security Taskforce and bandits in the last four days in the state.
The state Commissioner for Local Government Chieftaincy Affairs and Internal Security, Emmanuel Umar, made this known while briefing newsmen in Minna.
Umar revealed that the leaders of the four groups that the Joint State Security Taskforce engaged in the crossfire include Ali Kawajo, Bello Janbros, Kachalla Halilu, and Bello Turji.
He noted that the bandits were killed in the Kundu axis of Rafi and the Babanlaba axis of Mariga local governments and other parts of the state between Sunday and Wednesday.
Fuel Scarcity: Buy only quantity needed – NNPC rolls out measures
The Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has begun loading trucks at all depots to clear current scarcity being experienced across the nation.
NNPC noted that there was an availability of 1.7 billion litres of petrol currently in stock.
The NNPC Group Managing Director, Malam Mele Kyari who briefed newsmen in Abuja, after meeting with the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) and Petrol Tanker Drivers (PTD), apologized to Nigerians for the pains experienced at fuel stations and appealed to consumers to buy only the quantity they needed at fuel stations.

Chelsea’s Russian owner Roman Abramovich on Wednesday said he had made the incredibly difficult decision to sell the Premier League club, pledging that proceeds would go to victims of the war in Ukraine.
The billionaire believes it is in the best interest of the Champions League holders if he parts ways with the club he has transformed since he bought it in 2003.
The dramatic development comes days after Abramovich said he was handing over control of Chelsea to trustees of its charitable foundation following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Chelsea have won 19 major trophies in the Abramovich era, including their first two Champions League crowns and five Premier League titles.
