Bandits Kidnap Unspecified Number of Students in Another Kaduna School
An unspecified number of students have been abducted on Monday by unknown gunmen who attacked Bethel Baptist School, a private college located at Maraban Rido area in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The kidnappers were said to have invaded the school, located along Kaduna – Kachia road in the early hours of Monday, and started shooting sporadically into the air before kidnapping the students.
Four of the students escaped while the rest were taken away by the bandits to an unknown destination.
Nigerian Army organize free medical outreach
As part of activities to commemorate the Nigerian Army Day Celebration, the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Faruk Yahaya has organized a free medical outreach.
The medical outreach was held on Monday at Berger Camp Mpape, Abuja as part of the Nigerian Army’s Social responsibility to provide affordable medical treatment to indigents.
The medical outreach featured free medical consultation, blood pressure check, cancer screening, eye check, minor surgeries and donation of mosquitoes nets, toothbrush and paste, drugs amongst others.
400 illegal structures demolished along Airport Road in Abuja
The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has demolished over 400 illegal structures that constitute a security threat along the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Road.
The Chairman, FCT Ministerial Committee on City Sanitation, Mr Ikharo Attah, led the exercise on Sunday in Abuja.
Attah, said the operation was necessitated by the desire of the administration to enhance the security of lives and properties in Abuja.
The demolition, which affected Lugbe-Across, Lugbe-Berger, Car wash and Lugbe Zone 5, lasted for eight hours with heavy security personnel to avoid breakdown of law and order.
Jacob Zuma Says He Won’t Turn Himself Into South Africa Authorities
Ex-South African President Jacob Zuma on Sunday told hundreds of supporters camped outside his home his rights had been violated as a deadline approached for him to surrender to authorities.
His supporters have vowed to render South Africa ungovernable if he is jailed.
After sentencing Zuma, the South African court nonetheless agreed to hear his challenge to rescind the order.
A surrender deadline was set to run out on Sunday but 79-year-old Zuma has shown no sign he will hand himself in.
Rohr to consider some home-based players for World Cup qualifiers
Gernot Rohr says some home-based Super Eagles will be considered for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers which will kick-off in September.
The home Eagles were hammered 4-0 by Mexico in Sunday’s friendly played in LosAngeles, USA.
They failed to muster any shot on target as the Mexicans dominated proceedings from start to finish.
Despite the heavy defeat Rohr, speaking in the post-match press conference, stated that some of the NPFL stars will get a look in when the qualifiers commence.
